YELLOW FEVER

This is a field of rape battling it out with a field of buttercups to see which one is the yellowest!
Coberley was the location.

HORSE AND HORSE CHESTNUT

I caught this horse posing in front of a horse chestnut tree in a field around the Sandhurst area.

PAINSWICK YEWS

The churchyard in the town centre of Painswick has dozens of clipped yew trees.
These ones here where I was standing had all merged into one to become this strange shaped growth.
It's quite a surreal image - almost like a detail from an Yves Tanguy painting!

FORTHAMPTON FLARE

Shooting into direct sunlight caused the above photo to end up with a large dollop of lens flare, but I reckon it adds a touch of atmosphere to this particular corner of Forthampton.

THE FISH & FIDDLE - CHELTENHAM

The Fish & Fiddle pub in Cheltenham was a popular live music venue, particularly with acts from various underground scenes.

CINDERELLAS & THE FAMOUS PINT POT

Cinderellas was a disco located at the back of the old Leisure Centre in Gloucester.
It closed down many years ago, but the pub across from it, The Famous Pint Pot, is still on the go - however, I have no idea what its claim to fame is!

ABANDONED BUILDING

Some of what I photographed back in the 90's, no longer exists.
This old building in Aston Ingham for instance has since disappeared.

COTTAGE IN LONGNEY

No shortage of picturesque thatched cottages in the Cotswolds of course - with this example here being one in Longney.

CYCLING THROUGH SUNBEAMS

A couple of photos capturing the early morning sunlight bursting through trees.
The top one was taken in Maisemore and the image underneath it is from Pope's Wood.

THE HUNGRY KINGFISHER

Here's an unusual shot of a kingfisher you don't see very often.
The picture was taken from a bridge near Sandhurst, looking directly down at the stream below - so I ended up getting this birds-eye view of the scene.
You can see it had just caught a fish too!

WALL FLOWERS

The staff member who had the reserved parking spot in yesterdays item, wasn't the only one who had a bouquet awaiting at their space.
When I parked my bike in Forthampton, I had this large display of flowers at mine!

CAR PARK DETAIL

What's rather amusing about this image I snapped in a Gloucester car park, is that it's just a few steps away from a shop called Bow Bells - a florist!

VIEW OF SALTRIDGE HILL

This is the view you get looking over towards Saltridge Hill, from a place called Paradise.
So if any of you have been searching all your life for paradise on earth - here it is here!

APPERLEY POND

Here's an attractive little niche from the village of Apperley.
The small wooden shelter on the pond is a duck house - and not, as some of you may be thinking, a kennel for a dogfish!

DOCKS DETAIL

Every time I look at this image, I see the number "100" - and I can say with 100% accuracy that the picture was taken at Gloucester docks.

CANAL BARGES

It looks as if these barges are under starter's orders getting ready to race each other!
The picture was taken somewhere along the Sharpness canal.

BOAT BOUQUET

It's not exactly the Mayflower but this boat filled with flowers gave visitors a nice cheery welcome to the village of Gatcombe.

45's IN GLOUCESTER

This was "45's" in Gloucester - an independent record shop that sold cd's, vinyl, cassettes and gig tickets, as well as supplying a generous amount of flyers for raves and so on.
It's the same shop but caught in 2 different time periods in 2 different locations.
The top image is dated 1998 - the flyer on the door for an Astralasia gig in Lydney, confirms that.
When that closed down, they opened their new premises just around the corner from the old shop - the store in the 2nd picture.
The window display for The Cure's "Bloodflowers" album, dates that photo to 2000.

THE GAME'S UP!

I was out and about having a summers amble around the Port Ham area this particular day, when I caught sight of this cow.
Absolutely useless at hide-and-seek it was!

FOR FLOCK SAKE!

When I was on my bike exploring the Chestnuts Hill area one day, I spotted these geese in someones back yard playing a game of musical chairs!

OLD SHACK

I really liked the tumbledown look of this old shack tucked away in the woods at Cranham.
It reminded me of the kind a prospector might build - although as far as I'm aware, there isn't any gold in them thar hills!

OLD TREE

Not sure if this fine specimen is as old as yesterdays pub but the gnarly windswept tree does look pretty ancient - as well as a bit spooky!
Colethrop was its location.

YE OLDE BLACK BEAR

The pub that has the honour of being the oldest in Gloucestershire, is this one - "Ye Olde Black Bear" in Tewkesbury.
We're going as far back as the 1300's here!

BARRELS IN BIRDLIP

The Royal George Hotel in Birdlip came up with a rather novel way to recycle their old beer barrels - they transformed them into seats!

FARM FOOD AT BIRDWOOD

I'd say that this sign in Birdwood is a lot more endearing than one for Tesco.
Along with the fresh farm food on offer, I'd like to think that there may have been cider in the keg for passers-by to have a free sample!

CHURCH CLOCKS

When I was cycling passed the church in Great Witcombe, I couldn't help notice that the tower had two different styled timepieces.
The one on the left was your normal clock face type but the other one was a sundial dated 1752.
Historical that it is, it still begs the question - "How did they know when it was time for Midnight Mass?"

OLD GYPSY CARAVAN

This old gypsy caravan was parked near Norton, and judging by the amount of milk they had delivered - they sure did like their cornflakes!

GLASSHOUSE

Glasshouse is the name of a cosy hamlet tucked away close to May Hill.
The Glasshouse is also the name of its pub.
The prominent topiary feature at this location however, got me thinking that it may be time for a name change - from Glasshouse to Greenhouse!
