PARK DISPLAY

These structures scattered around an area of Gloucester park in the late 90's looked like something out of Mad Max, but they were actually part of the fireworks display later that evening.

TRUCKS IN THE PARK

I couldn't help notice that when the funfair trucks in the top image, arrived for their summer stint, the vehicles had the same colour scheme as the flowers they parked alongside and blended in quite nicely!
The Bandit monster truck, however, was waiting to have its rear wheels attached before going on to wreck everything in its path for its stunt show!
Both these shots were taken in Gloucester park sometime around the late 90's.

BOAT BLOOMS

A couple of boats down in Gloucester docks in the mid 90's and both featuring a bouquet of flowers.
The first image is of a canal barge with a donkey ornament carrying the flowers on its back.
The picture below it has a guy dressed in Edwardian boating gear looking as if he has fallen asleep waiting on his date to arrive for a romantic rendezvous. You can see the flowers, champagne, hamper, and even an old gramophone player, at the ready!
Not sure what kind of boat it is mind you, half rowing boat - half canoe, but it is called Silver Ripple anyway.

AFRO ARTIFACTS

These eye catching displays were set up in Gloucester's main park in the early/mid 90's. I took the pictures in 2 different years, but this is the era they date from.

There are all sorts of African & Jamaican crafts on sale including stuff like art prints, jewellery, ornaments, furniture, clothing, plus a selection of other related goodies.

You can also catch sight of the old blue van that brought the reggae sound system along to accompany the displays.

FUN AT THE DOCKS

Some fun being had at Gloucester docks in the early '90's with various water sports going on, such as rowing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, and probably a few other aquatic activities in there too.

ROCKS AND DOCKS

The mountainous frame in the top picture was set up in Gloucester park during their festival fortnight in the early 90's. The right hand side of it was for climbing up, and the left section was for abseiling down. It looks like 3 youngsters are using it at first, then you realise that 2 of the characters are painted on, so there is only just the one making his way up.

I'm pretty sure the 2 main cranes in the photo below it were being used for bungee jumping purposes. This was taken at Gloucester docks around the late 90's.

If getting high wasn't your thing, you could always just opt for a nice safe ride around the docks in a horse drawn carriage instead.

BEFORE AND AFTER THE SHOW

The top picture was taken in Cheltenham's City Hall in 2003 during their Jazz Festival.
I was actually in another part of the building for an art exhibition that was part of the jazz festival too, but when I was leaving, I heard some noises coming from the main hall, so I had a little nosey to see what was going on and I saw this scene of a crew assembling a band's light rigging in preparation for a performance that evening.
The second photo was taken in 2000, the day after a show in Gloucester park, one that was part of the Millennium celebrations.
