LITTLE AND LARGE

These bales of hay were stacked using 2 different methods.
The ones at the top were on a small scale & flat and to me they conjured up the art of Carl Andre.
The ones in the lower picture were assembled on a very large scale and so I imagined them put together by David Mach.
Nothing arty about either of course, both the work of farmers - the top location being near Newent and the bottom shot around the Maisemore area.

Here's another one of those open air shelters filled with hay - this example located behind an apple tree on the fringe of Cowley.

Not sure if these open air shelters have a specific name but this one here was located high up near the top of a ridge along the Cotswolds Way near Painswick.
You can see some cattle feeding at the side of the slope.

WEATHER-BEATEN BARNS

These 3 barns looked as if they had been around for quite a few decades, judging by their weather-beaten appearance, especially the lower image featuring a rather spectacular wobbly roof!
The trio were all located at the same farm on the outskirts of Highnam.

BOTH SIDES OF A BARN

I do like rickety old farm barns, and have stopped off at quite a few during my country jaunts to take pictures of some of them.

These 2 snaps above are of the same barn but seen from opposite sides.

The first one with my bike in shot shows its setting in amongst the wild growth behind a rusty gate.

The other picture displays the barn in use with a bundle of black hay bags in storage. The old yellow sheet at the back also reflects its colour and lights up various parts of the scene.

The location of this one was around the Sandhurst/Wallsworth area.

BOX COTTAGE NURSERIES

The white wooden shack in the entrance area of Box Cottage Nurseries used to sell basic food items & sweets and was the only shop in the village of Sandhurst.
I took this snap in the mid 90's but the place has since closed down and the shack and grounds sold, so not too sure what happened after that.

DENE RISE NURSERIES

This was how Dene Rise Nurseries looked back in the late 90's - a place to go for fresh fruit & veg.
It was situated on the outskirts of Blakeney, and although there is still a premises on this site selling the same kind of produce, it is now called the Severn View Garden Centre.
