Not the usual kind of image that springs to mind when referring to the Cotswolds, but this gritty urban scene was captured in Gloucester around the mid/late 90's.
In the upper picture, the premises on the left with the Big Issue poster in the window, I think was a drop-in centre kind of place. It then changed into a hairdresser's some years later.
The shop called D&S Contact Sports sold all sorts of martial arts gear, but it too didn't survive and the corner shop premises is now boarded up.
The mosque across the road is still on the go, and I'm sure the hairdresser next to it is there today as well.
The lower photograph is a close-up of the D&S window display and has the likes of Karate, Kick Boxing & Kung Fu stuff that may interest budding young ninjas!
