THE ROTTEN APPLE TREE

There were a couple of times on my cycling trips that I found myself filling my backpack with apples from trees that were growing on empty wasteland. Be as well to put them to good use I reckoned rather than just have them wither away.
The example above, however, which was located in a piece of waste ground near Upton St Leonards, although it had lots of apples on the tree, it was in fact the middle of a frosty December when I took this shot and so all the apples had either gone rotten or had been half pecked away by birds. Needless to say, my backpack remained empty after stopping off at this one!
You'll also be able to see that the tree had a large clump of mistletoe attached to the centre of it.
